Youssef Chorfi

Hello, internet stranger!

I am Youssef, a Master’s student in Data Science at ETH Zürich.

On the side, I’m building agaria.ai, a tool that automates sales prospecting on LinkedIn (email outreach is coming soon!)

I like working on systems that sit at the intersection of software, machine learning, and real-world products. I’m particularly interested in cloud and network systems, agentic AI, and foundation models for robotics.

I did my Bachelor’s in Computer Science at EPFL.

Interests

Most of my work so far has been about applying things I already know to build useful systems. I’m now looking to get deeper into research, especially around cloud and network systems, or foundation models for robotics.

I strongly believe that the recent advances in language and visual intelligence are only the beginning of a much bigger shift: bringing this kind of intelligence into the physical world.

Work

In 2025, I interned as an ML Engineer at NutrAI, where I estimated how much of a meal someone actually ate by matching photos taken before and after eating. I also built two internal tools for browsing, filtering and analysing the image dataset, and running experiments.

From 2025 to 2026, I was an Event Lead at the ETH Entrepreneur Club, where I organized two student events end to end with a small team, covering sponsors, logistics, and operations. These included BOOST, a pitching competition for early-stage startups with a CHF 40,000 prize pool, and Startup Simulator, a one-day event where teams go through the process of building a company.

From 2023 to 2024, I was a Teaching Assistant at EPFL, where I ran exercise sessions, helped students with assignments, and graded for five courses in computer science and mathematics, including Software Construction, Linear Algebra, and Calculus.

What I like

All form of art, mostly Cinema and paintings. There Will Be Blood by Paul Thomas Anderson is probably my favorite movie. The painting I like most that I’ve seen in real life is Inferno by Herri met de Bles.

Web design. I like to think about designs that reduce cognitive effort as much as possible. Aesthetic, but very easy to use.

Games (counts as art imo). I like games that let you explore and figure things out for yourself. My favorites: Elden Ring, Undertale, Zelda Breath of the Wild.

Chess. I play occasionally, mostly online. Find me on Chess.com.
